Butternut Tree Conservation Motion

At the March 28 General Issues Committee (GIC) Meeting, Aidan introduced a motion to preserve Butternut Trees that are located on the proposed site for the LRT Operations and Storage Facility.

Specifically, he has requested that staff from the City of Hamilton and Metrolinx report to the LRT Subcommittee as soon as possible following the health assessment of the butternut trees located on the proposed site for the LRT operations, maintenance and storage facility.

He has asked that the report include:

  1. The right steps for conserving the population of butternut trees; a rare native Ontario plant species, identified at the proposed site for the LRT operations, maintenance and storage facility located in Ward 1; and ,
  2. Options for ensuring that conservation within the plans for the proposed LRT operations, maintenance and storage facility.
