Imagine sleeping on an empty stomach. Imagine waking up and not being able to satisfy that emptiness. Now, imagine being able to help someone in that situation. With the Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association's Fill a Bus Feed a Family Food Drive in support of Mission Services, you can make that a reality.
For the 10th year of this food drive, we're looking for volunteers to help distribute food collection bags from April 28th - May 3rd and to collect the donated food on May 6th. If you can't volunteer your time, you can also help the cause by putting a promotional sign on you lawn. We have collected over 100,000 lbs of food since our inception and we are looking to grow that number by as much as possible this year. Students looking to earn their hours are welcome. For more information, go to http://www.kirkendallhood.ca, email email@example.com
Each year, in addition to collecting food for Mission Services, the KNA presents a donation cheque to Mission Services during the opening ceremony. We have an opportunity this year to increase our donation. On Sunday April 30th we'll be at the Main and Dundurn Fortinos. We're looking to put a team together to help at the check out bagging customers purchases in return for donations.
We have 2 shifts available: 11:30am-3:00pm or 2:30pm-6:00pm
If you're interested please click on the link to the right and choose the shift that works for you. http://doodle.com/poll/f55wiw459cunku97
The Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association’s ‘Fill a Bus, Feed a Family’ annual food drive gives us enough food to stock the shelves at our Good Food Centre for almost two months. As a result, well over 1,000 families have access to healthy food to maintain a good diet while they are facing financial or employment challenges. This is an incredible gesture of generosity and community building. We are honoured to call the Kirkendall neighbourhood our friends and allies in the fight for food security in Hamilton. - Acting Executive Director, Carol Cowan
