Help us clean up the Cootes Paradise shore after the flooding this Sunday May 14th NEW TIME 9am to Noon. The high water is starting to recede a bit - leaving behind a dangerous collection of small plastics including overflows from the sanitary sewer system.
We are grateful to all the wonderful volunteers of Stewards of Cootes Watershed whose work over the past 4.5 years means that there was 325,000 lbs less to be carried down the creeks and into the Cootes Paradise Nature Sanctuary, but we haven't gotten it all yet and some has made it down in the recent heavy rains.
Sign up to volunteer in Cootes Watershed (West End of Hamilton) or just show up.
Meet at 64 Hatt Street - rear lot down drive to left as you face the building.
Easy, Moderate and Rugged Terrain to suit. All are welcome. Gloves, Equipment and Great People to work with are provided. Contact Alan at firstname.lastname@example.org or 289-239-7649.

The people of this Community have something to say to the Volunteers of Stewards of Cootes and Stewards of Red Hill Watersheds
And it's a rather loud thank you !
In the last few days our Facebook posts describing what we have achieved this past weekend have gotten a bit of a reaction. I could tell you that our posts got shared and shared again an astounding 91 times to reach over 37,000 people!
But that's not meaningful enough because it just social media mumbo-jumbo. What really counts is that there were 1,475 people in this community who took the time to react to our posts with Likes, Loves and Wows. Almost 300 people went much further by taking the time to send you a message of thanks.
