Update on the One-Year Pilot Program for Yard Maintenance Related By-laws in the McMaster Neighbourhoods

Aidan introduced and moved a Motion at City Council titled 'Review of the Current By-law Enforcement Service Levels in the McMaster University Neighbourhoods'. The Motion was carried.  As a result, the City of Hamilton hired two additional students for a one year pilot program for enforcement of yard maintenance related by-laws in the McMaster neighbourhoods.

Since starting, students went door to door handling out pamphlets and educating property owners and occupants on the purpose of the pilot program, various yard maintenance related by-laws and violations.  The following video reviews property standards in the City of Hamilton:

In addition to providing education to property owners and occupants, Student Officers have been proactively and reactively inspecting properties and taking the appropriate enforcement actions when violations have been determined. The following is a summary of the Orders issued;
