Ward One for Everyone! An Invitation to support Ward 1's Ronald McDonald House

Please join Councillor Aidan Johnson in volunteering at our December 7th Ronald McDonald House Bistro Night.  Details below!

Life can change very quickly for families when a child is being treated in hospital. Ronald McDonald House is a ‘Home away from Home’ for these families. December is a special time when people come together to celebrate family and reach out to others. Please consider volunteering with us!

More about Bistro Night

The Meals that Heal program offers families a home-cooked meal seven nights a week, 365 days a year. When a meal is adopted, like Aidan is sponsoring, our in-house Chef prepares these dishes with your help! Those interested in participating in this program will experience the tangible impact of helping our families.

More about Ronald McDonald House

The program provides: safe and comfortable accommodation, nutritious meals, laundry services and a supportive environment to ensure that the only thing families need to focus on is each other. Each year the House saves families an average of $2.7 million in out-of-pocket expenses! The House is a regional resource and annually serves 700+ families.

Last year 50,000+ people were served at Ronal McDonald Family Room, located at McMaster Children’s Hospital!

Geographically located in Hamilton’s Ward One, the House is the only type of community support providing this service for families throughout South Central ON: Kitchener/Waterloo, Halton, Brantford/Simcoe, and Niagara regions. The House relies on the community to fund 80% of its annual operating budget each year. It does not receive government subsidies to offset costs.
