Life can change very quickly for families when a child is sick and in hospital. The House Staff and Volunteers dedicate themselves to keeping families together when this happens. The program provides: safe and comfortable accommodation, nutritious meals, laundry services and a supportive environment to ensure that the only thing families need to focus on is each other. Each year the House saves families an average of $2.7 million in out-of-pocket expenses! The House is a regional resource and annually serves 700+ families. Last year 50,000+ people were served at Ronal McDonald Family Room, located at McMaster Children’s Hospital! Geographically located in Hamilton’s Ward One, the House is the only type of community support providing this service for families throughout South Central ON: Kitchener/Waterloo, Halton, Brantford/Simcoe, and Niagara regions. The House relies on the community to fund 80% of its annual operating budget each year. It does not receive government subsidies to offset costs.
