Watermain Flushing in Ainslie Wood - October 2017

Attention Ainslie Wood Residents living south of Main, opposite McMaster.  The City of Hamilton will be conducting routine watermain flushing to maintain the water pipes and water quality.

Staff will be placing door hangers in the impacted areas a minimum of 48 hours prior to flushing. There will also be roadside signs during the work.

As water travels slowly through watermains, sediment can settle at the bottom of the pipe and build up over time.  The City flushes watermains to remove the sediment build up.

Watermain flushing may cause you to have temporary discoloured water. After the work is completed, to eliminate discoloured water you should go to a basement sink or laundry tub and run the COLD water tap for 5 to 10 minutes until the water runs clear.

The City will be monitoring chlorine levels and system impacts throughout the project to ensure that the drinking water system remains at safe at all times.
