The road and sidewalks on Locke Street South between Herkimer and Main Street are being fully re-constructed. Construction will begin in early Spring of 2019 as soon as weather permits with completion estimated at late Fall 2019. (click here to view construction map). Full construction plan available below.
In anticipation of the construction, utility work needs to be completed. Alectra, Union Gas, Bell Canada and the City of Hamilton has scheduled work starting in 2018. As dates and information about the work becomes available, we will post it below.
Throughout the work, residents can expect some loud noise and disruption to traffic. The work crews are doing their best to limit impact to both traffic and pedestrians. Anyone driving in the area is being asked to reduce driving speeds to help ensure the safety of workers. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Alectra Utilities Notice - Hydro Poles on Locke Street South and the surrounding area streets will be replaced starting in January 2018 with work expected to be complete by Fall of 2018.
Union Gas has contracted NPL to replace the underground gas lines. Notices have been given to residents directly impacted by the work. Work is expected to be done in the Spring and Summer of 2018.
Bell Canada will be in the area upgrading the communication lines in the Summer of 2018.
City of Hamilton will be working on sewer lining starting in the Fall 2018 and expected to continue throughout the winter.

The city held a Public Information Center on September 19th, 2018 7:00 pm at Stanley Avenue Baptist Church (Blessings Christian Church). A copy of the presentation is available here. Please note: the traffic impact, HSR impacts and construction timing listed in the presentation are subject to change. The construction contract will be awarded through the City's Procurement Process the Fall (2018). Once the project is awarded, revisions and additional details will be released.
